Introduction
The story of Sadhu Kishan Singh is an extraordinary tale of faith, perseverance, and divine calling. Born into a Sikh family in Punjab, India, his journey from tradition to becoming a devoted servant of Christ is an inspiring testament to God’s transformative power.

Birth and Childhood

Sadhu Kishan Singh was born on July 22, 1926, into a devout Sikh family. His father, Sardar Pratap Singh, was a wealthy and influential man, while his mother, Dhannan Kaur, was deeply spiritual. For 12 years, the couple prayed fervently for a child. Their prayers were answered after the Christian saint Sadhu Sundar Singh, a relative of Dhannan Kaur, visited their home and prayed for them. Shortly after, the couple welcomed twin sons, Kishan Singh and Virasa Singh. Decades later, on the same date, July 22, 1953, their youngest child, Shanta Kaur, was born.

The Influence of Miss Ruth

As a young boy, Kishan Singh was greatly influenced by his school teacher, Miss Ruth, a foreigner who admired Indian culture and taught biblical principles. Her teachings ignited a spark of faith in young Kishan, leading him to practice Christian prayers at home. However, his father, a staunch Sikh, opposed this and forbade him from studying the Bible or learning English. Instead, Kishan was directed to study Farsi, Urdu, and Punjabi.

Rebellion and Misguided Actions

After being restricted from practicing Christianity, Kishan left school and began engaging in mischief within the village. His teacher, Miss Ruth, reported his behavior to his father. To discipline him, Sardar Pratap Singh organized a 40-day religious ritual at home, hoping it would reform him. As part of the ritual, Kishan was only allowed a daily tumbler of milk, which left him physically weak and near death.

A Divine Encounter

Seeing her son’s condition, Dhannan Kaur secretly sent for Miss Ruth. Accompanied by her brother, Bishop Bulmer, Miss Ruth prayed fervently for Kishan. During their prayer, a miraculous bright light filled the room, and the image of a cross appeared. Kishan, moved by this divine encounter, committed his life to Christ.

Tragedy Strikes: The Martyrdom of Miss Ruth

Miss Ruth’s unwavering faith angered the local community. Despite threats, she continued preaching about Jesus. Tragically, Kishan’s cousin killed her in a violent attack. Before her death, she handed her Bible to Kishan and urged him to spread the message of Christ.

A Secret Mission of Faith

After Miss Ruth’s death, Dhannan Kaur secretly nurtured Kishan’s spiritual growth by teaching him the Bible. This clandestine discipleship transformed Kishan into a committed follower of Christ. However, when his father discovered this, his anger erupted. In a fit of rage, he ordered Kishan to be thrown onto a railway track. Servants, unable to follow through, instead placed Kishan on a train. A European passenger noticed his plight and paid his fare, ensuring his safety.

Miraculous Healing of Shanta Kaur

Years later, Kishan returned to Punjab, only to find his parents had passed away. His sister, Shanta Kaur, was gravely ill, with doctors declaring she had little time left. Kishan brought her to a church, where she was baptized. In a miraculous turn of events, Shanta was completely healed, strengthening their faith and resolve to serve God.

A Life of Evangelism

Kishan Singh and Shanta Kaur began traveling across India, spreading the gospel and sharing their testimony. Their journey took them to remote regions, where they faced hunger, threats, and opposition. Despite these challenges, their unwavering faith led to miraculous healings and conversions, including the transformation of the feared dacoit Rambha Singh, who surrendered his life to Christ.

Legacy and Final Days

After decades of service, Sadhu Kishan Singh fell ill in 1998. His protégé, Deepak, stayed by his side during his final days. Having devoted his life to spreading God’s word, Sadhu Kishan Singh passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith and sacrifice.

Conclusion

The life of Sadhu Kishan Singh is a powerful reminder of the transformative power of faith and the enduring impact of unwavering devotion to Christ. His story continues to inspire countless believers around the world.
