Introduction :
The divine, unchangeable Word of God contains the Law, the Prophets and the Psalms. It is that portion of God’s Word which is called the Old Testament of the HOLY BIBLE. God gave the Law to Moses, the Psalms to David and the prophets were holy men of God to whom God gave His word. This is the Word of God to man. Over 1,000 times it is written in the Scriptures “God said,” “thus saith the LORD”,, “the LORD spoke”.
The Law, the Prophets and the Psalms are God’s foundation for the faith given to the man who would believe Him and follow Him. A man who seeks to follow God without a knowledge of these Scriptures is like a man who tries to build the walls and the roof of a house without first laying the foundation.
God’s Word in this first Course opens up the way of fellowship between God and man. It reveals the way whereby this fellowship can be our daily experience.
The law was given to Moses about 1,5000 B.C. or 2,122 years before the Hijra. The Psalms were given to David about 1,000 B.C. or 1,622 years before the Hijra. The Books of the prophets were written at various times in history. They contain more than 1,000 prophecies of things to happen. A great number of them have been fulfilled to date and in complete detail. These prophecies revealed what God was going to do throughout the coming generations of mankind, so that men should know the things to come. The great prophecies of Isaiah which are studied in this course were given about 700 B.C. or 1,322 years before the Hijra.
The Almighty God gave His Word and by His power has kept it to the present day. There are to-day many ancient and priceless manuscripts written centuries B.C. (Before Christ) and many centuries before the Hijra. These very writings, breathed by God centuries ago, are the very ones you study in this first course have revealed many evidences that support the statement that this is the God’s Word. It is a fact that whatever the spade of the excavator has disclosed anything, that throws light on the Bible, the discovery has without one exception, proved the HOLY BIBLE right.
This course, “The Testimony of the Law, the Prophets and the Psalms”, (the first course of the three) is God’s Word to you. God wants you, whether you be young or old, male or female, to know and understand His words. If you will pray earnestly and study with an open heart and mind, God Himself will bless you and lead you into His Truth. You will be able to say with joy and confidence in the words of the prophet David – “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Psalms 119:105.
