Jesus, where’er Thy people meet,

1.Jesus, where’er Thy people meet,
There they behold Thy mercy-seat:
Where’er they seek Thee, Thou art found,
And every place is hallowed ground.

2.For Thou, within no walls confined.
Inhabitest the humble mind
Such ever bring Thee where they come,
And going, take Thee to their home.

3.Great Shepherd of Thy chosen few,
Thy former mercies here renew.
Here to our waiting hearts proclaim
The sweetness of Thy saving Name.

4. Here may we prove the power of prayer,
To strengthen faith, and sweeten care;
To teach our faint desires to rise,
And bring all heaven before our eyes.

5. Lord, we are few, but Thou art near,
Nor short Thine arm, nor deaf Thine ear;
Oh, rend the heavens, come quickly down,
And make a thousand hearts Thine own!

Jesus, the very thought of Thee

1. Jesus, the very thought of Thee
With sweetness fills my breast;
But sweeter far Thy face to see,
And in Thy presence rest.

2. Nor voice can sing, nor heart can frame,
Nor can the memory find
A sweeter sound than Thy blest Name,
O Saviour of mankind!

3. Oh, hope of every contrite heart,
Oh, joy of all the meek;
To those who fall, how kinds
Thou art,
How good to those who seek!

4.But what to those who find? Ah! this
Nor tongue nor pen can show;
The love of Jesus, what it is
None but His loved ones know.

5. Jesus, our only joy be Thou,
As Thou our prize wilt be;
Jesus, be Thou our glory now,
And through eternity.
