Who is Pastor Praveen Pagadala?
Before his death, not many people outside of Christian groups, pastors, and strong believers knew about Praveen. But after his death, he became widely known. People admire his life and the values he stood for.
Many are wondering: Where did he come from? Who are his parents? What was his job? Who is his wife and children? And why are so many mourning his death as if they lost a family member? Why are people demanding justice and a deep investigation? To understand all this, we need to know about his personal life.
Praveen was from Kadapa. His mother was from Proddatur. There is not much information about his father’s family. His mother followed Christianity, while his father practiced Islam. Praveen was a bright student from his early days. He also had an elder brother. Besides studying, he had a deep interest in social matters and Christianity.
In his childhood, something serious happened. His elder brother was stabbed by a friend. Angry and upset, Praveen, along with two others, beat up the attacker badly. Thinking the man had died, they left him. But when the man survived, they feared police action. Luckily, Praveen’s maternal aunt was a Circle Inspector (CI) at that time, and she managed to settle the issue without any police case.
This incident deeply affected Praveen. He began questioning his actions: “Why am I behaving like this? Why did I try to harm someone?” He felt it was time to change his path. He realized that staying in his hometown might only lead him to more troubles.
His parents also noticed his growing mischief and feared he might fall into bad habits. So, they sent him to a hostel when he was in the sixth grade. Praveen found hostel life difficult. He missed his family’s love and care but had no choice but to continue his studies there.
Praveen completed his early education and later moved to Indore, Madhya Pradesh, where he did his MBA in International Business. From a young age, he had a keen interest in the business world.
Before this, he once attended a Christian youth meeting in Hyderabad. The words of the speakers there made him think deeply. Until then, Praveen would sometimes mock religious customs, superstitions, and meaningless practices. He believed in logic more than blind faith.
At the Hyderabad meeting, a speaker said, “You are going to be the light of this world.” This statement struck Praveen. He thought, “Why should I waste my life like this? Why should I be known as a troublesome person? I want to change.”
Later, he had a dream. In that dream, Lord Jesus appeared and told him, “Go to Indore in Madhya Pradesh and preach about my glory.” Praveen didn’t even know where Indore was. But the dream stayed with him. The next day, he searched for Indore on Google, found out it was in Madhya Pradesh, and immediately decided to go there. He packed just two pairs of clothes and boarded a train to Indore.
When he reached Indore, he knew no one there. He didn’t know Hindi either. With little money, he stayed at the railway station for 2-3 days, thinking about what to do next. He spent this time learning Hindi seriously. Amazingly, within a month, he became fluent enough to preach in Hindi clearly and powerfully.
People were surprised at how a Telugu-speaking man could preach so beautifully in Hindi within such a short time. His speeches were so inspiring that even TV channels started broadcasting them.
Seeing his talent, a pastor couple in Indore took him into their family. They believed Praveen had the potential to become a great preacher for Jesus. The couple decided to marry their daughter to Praveen. Luckily, Praveen and their daughter liked each other too, and they got married in 2006.
Later, they were blessed with a daughter, but she faced serious health issues. Praveen felt deep pain during this time and even questioned God, asking why he had to go through such troubles while serving Him.
Before settling in the software field, Praveen had also worked in a manufacturing unit and did some marketing jobs. Even then, he used part of his earnings for social service.
After marriage, Praveen’s life took a new turn. His wife supported him in every step — in his ministry, business growth, preaching tours, and social work. Though Praveen was the face of these activities, he often said that his wife was his real strength, managing everything in the background.
Praveen didn’t just focus on preaching. He also built a successful business empire. He started a software company and gave jobs to many people. Later, he opened 2-3 more companies, providing employment to hundreds. He used the profits not just for himself but also to help the needy.
He organized programs for the poor, widows, orphans, and the sick. He went to remote villages, set up medical camps, and helped with education. He even built orphanages and homes for the elderly.
Praveen had two daughters — one is 17 and the other is 4 years old. But he didn’t limit his love to his family. He treated many poor children and orphans like his own, helping them study, find jobs, and settle in life.
His wife stood by him through every challenge. Praveen always said that behind his success was his wife’s support.
Details of his Death
Praveen once told his wife that he was going by bike from Hyderabad or Vijayawada to Rajahmundry. Sadly, he left alone, without any assistant. If someone had been with him, they could have helped or called for help in case of trouble. But why did he travel alone at midnight?
Earlier, Praveen had told the media that he was receiving death threats. He said some people wanted to harm him. This makes people question why he took such a risk to travel alone at night. The investigation is still ongoing.
Praveen was different from other religious leaders. While many lived only for their own comfort, he built successful businesses and used his wealth for social good.
His life is an inspiration to many. His service, dedication, and way of living are examples for others to follow.
He always said, “God loves those who work hard.” He believed in doing his duties well while serving God. That’s why he earned the love and respect of thousands and lakhs of people, unlike other preachers.
Anyone who listened to his teachings could see the wisdom and logic in his words. He never spoke nonsense or showed blind fanaticism. His clear and knowledge-based talks made him very popular.
